Take the A22 (KillinchyRd) out of the town. Just beyond the 40mph limit, take a left unto the Ballydrain Rd. Continue for about 3 miles, then after passing The Old Schoolhouse Inn take a left unto the Ringneill Road, follow to the end, passing Mahee Castle

And ending at a layby on the right at the site

Lots of interesting roads in the area that take you along the western shores of Strangford Lough
Good to see those snaps....nostalgic......I used to have a house on Reagh Island before I moved here.......we used to dander along that road past Cross Island in summers as kids to get sweets at Mahee Island Golf Club shop and explore/climb in that old ruin.

Greetings,

Disappearing puddle ! Sir, it was huge, as big as the Great Bear Lake in Canada :? I was only small last time I saw it, there in the morning and gone in the afternoon

Any photo will do of any of the places, I would just like to know that they are still there and suggest that Whitehead might be a place for passersby to call in for a brew. My folks lived on Cable Road but there is nobody there now. At the time I was summer friends with the son of the vegetable shop owner. There was a cinema and it was the end of the line from Belfast. Funny I can see the little town as clear as if I were standing there but it had grown when I last visited about 20 years ago.

The Antrim coast road is spectacular.

Don't know if you have been before, but whilst in Enniskillen, a good spot to go to is the view point at Lough Navar Forest. Also, if looking somewhere different for a spot of lunch/dinner, Lusty Beg Island, located between Kesh and Belleek is very nice.

In Annalong, if you like your fish and chips, you have to get the haddock and chips from The Galley in the village.

Nikki's kitchen cafe in Newcastle is also well worth a visit for great food/coffee etc

Enjoy your trip

Stopped here on a run recently. On the Collin Road (B94) North of Ballyclare, Co Antrim. From Ballyclare just take the B94 out of town, a great road with some nice corners as you make your way to its highest point. The picnic site is on the left just over the top of the highest point.

A location a few of us stayed a night recently. Crom Estate, Newtownbutler, Co Fermanagh. Owned by the National Trust.

A small campsite, self catering accomodation and camping pods which we availed of for a night. Each pod sleeps 5 (two beds and room for 3 more adults on the floor. Each pod has a small fridge, kettle and microwave. They are converted pig houses with tables outside looking towards Lough Erne.

A cafe is also on site (seasonal) canoe/boat hire also seasonal. A great site with lots of great surrounding countryside to explore.

Garrison, Co Fermanagh, a nice area to stop on the shore of Lough Melvin, about as far west as you can go in Northern Ireland. Picnic tables and toilets to avail off. Garrison village has a couple of shops and pubs. A river runsinto the lough beside the site.

Directions from Enniskillen. Follow the Sligo Rd out of town and continue to Belcoo (about 12 miles) In Belcoo village ( another nice spot) turn right into the B52. Follow to Garrison (about 13 miles)
