I have insurance with Carole Nash. It includes EU wide breakdown cover. Age of bike is also not a factor. A lot of policies only cover bikes up to 10 or 15 years old.

I get full European breakdown cover with my classic policy from Peter James.
My bike that gets used the most is only 65 years old.
When the BMW 800GS is sold, the youngest will be the old trumpet legend at 16 years old.

Try quoteline direct £59 a year but I'm not sure if its only for people based in the UK?
They were great when our MG shed its fan belt in Norway best £59 I've ever spent!!

If you are with Carole Nash then you already have the European wide breakdown cover irrespective of the age of the motorcycle, unless you specifically exclude it. When I renewed last year I was able to get cheaper quotes but they either didn't include breakdown cover or excluded it on age grounds. Getting separate cover made the 'cheaper' insurance more expensive so I stuck with CN.

If you are buying separate watch the age limit.

Just been on with AA,

18:57:38 : CustomerCustomer: Hi, I live in northern ireland and would like bike cover so that I would be covered in the uk and also the republic of ireland on for the times i nip over the border for a day trip or the weekend.

18:59:05 : AgentJess: Ireland is not normally covered within the UK Membership policy however we do have a reciprocal agreement with AA Ireland which means if you break down in Republic of Ireland they will provide you with the equivalent level of service available under your UK cover (however this does not apply to Parts and Garage Cover).

19:00:47 : CustomerCustomer: So if i end up on the side of the road near Dublin, and my bike cannot be repaired will it be sent home, with your cover?

19:02:35 : AgentJess: If you have 'National recovery', then yes. AA Ireland would take you to the border where AA UK would pick you up.

19:04:40 : AgentJess: To set the cover up just tick the services you would like on the 'Options' page' then click the "Continue" button to take you to the next page of the process.

National recovery £ 84.99............what..............
