Summer Solstice - The Road to Carrowkeel

Post by Moorso »

SO.....

We were away over the entire weekend (which is why I couldn't make the ABR rideout), visiting relatives in Navan. But we were down on Fri to Newgrange Lodge, then to the Hill of Tara on the Saturday then to Carrowkeel megalithic complex which was, simply, stunning.

Some pics and onboards below:

At 2mins in we start to get offroad before hitting a gravel track up the entire mountain to Carrowkeel at 3mins 20secs. Make sure you flick it to 1080 (HD) in the video settings!

Enjoyed those clips, looks like a lovely part of the country, the weather did help though, makes everything look so much better

Thanks guys! (thumbs)

Yes Ian.....my ass was very sore! And some of the ruts were horrific! But once up there it was breathtaking. The weather definitely helped....if it had been pishing it down I wouldn't have been quite so enamoured with the place!

The shadow of you on the video looks like you were sitting, standing up on the pegs is the way to go.

Not only is it 'easier on the rear' you get a better view to help negoiate the ruts and choose the better line, if there is one (thumbs)

Hi Heff

Indeed.....although I'm confident standing on the pegs on road etc, oddly on those tracks I'm not so much. I think it's just a matter of gaining experience though.

Nice vids and Carrowkeel is one of my favourite places. I was last up there in winter on my Blackbird which was fun :-) Had to help push cars twice at the point about 4.22. Did you go see the Caves of Kesh just down the road ? The sunset from there is just fantastic, especially in winter, here's one I took earlier http://500px.com/photo/73486813/caves-o ... ?from=user
