Straightening Out Panniers

Post by gbags » Thu Jun 11, 2015 8:15 pm

On a recent trip in Europe I smacked a pannier (MM) on a low bollard at low speed. One pannier is misshapen, the hooks needed wellying back and the pannier rack has folded .
Does anyone in the SW know someone who can have a look? I'd be happy to whack the pannier about but I'm worried about trying to straighten out a bent tube on the rack.
I'm based in Exeter.

No, I'd come up. I wouldn't drag you down when I'm the one with the problem.

The arm that goes from where it holds the pannier, round to the back light, is folded at the back light. It may need a new frame but if you know a fabricator or someone who works with aluminium he could tell me if it's fixable.

It's not too falling apart just yet. I had a long tour after I bent it but the paint's gone and rust is going to start eating into it. The whole set is off a bit too. If I stand behind, the bike is heading in one direction and the panniers are travelling somewhere else.
