South-Mid "Wales Weekender"

Post by Louisdut »

Hi all you Midlanders

Would any of you be up for “Wales Weekender” May 21th & 22nd

My Idea would meet early Saturday and ride up to Rhayader Mid Wales (mainly on A44) form Rhayader take the mountain road to Devils Bridge and onto Ponterwyd where I know a few unpaved roads which would be suitable for bigger bikes up towards Machynlleth then back seeing how it goes we could take some more unpaved roads on the way back

We could either wild camp or take in a campsite Saturday night ?

I think Max of 10 riders would be best

Would suit 600cc + bikes because of the road miles not aimed at a hardcore trail ride but more an adventure bike run with some unpaved roads (with rock and mud under tyre) you would need something like TKC tyres not road tyres they would be very hard work

No one likes to drop their bike but it happens :( so if the thought of dropping your bike horrifies you this run would not be for you

So what do you all think open to all ideas?

Louis

Sounds good - will need to double check there isn't a race on that weekend first though.

I would love to, but.....
I don't have a change of tyres available and it may be a little out of my league

If your short of Midlanders it sounds like a cracking time of the year to see Wales so I'd be up for it. Also gives me a weekend away in May. Tidy. :)

Cheers Louis, I'll keep an eye on the post, there's some lovely countryside in the midlands so I'd be quite happy to wildcamp somewhere closer the night before and meet up at the arranged place. :)
