I am just glad you are ok. When I came up to you I thought your leg or ankle was bust as it looked very twisted stuck in the pannier frame. I was so relieved when you jumped up unharmed when I lifted the bike off you.

You also weren't the first to hit the deck on this trip. Tenere Mart hit a patch of ice and put his bike through a gate as well. Mart and Sherry managed to jump clear and the only damage seems to have some scratches to the bike and a busted gate.

You also made a very wise decision to turn back when you did. That back road into Hawes deteriorated into a sheet of ice with compacted snow on top. After spinning, slipping, sliding and struggling up a steep hill we found a small queue caused by a van stuck & incapable of going forwards or backwards and slowly sliding into the ditch. The police in a 4x4 later turned up and advised the road was officially shut and there was over 1mile of icy road ahead. We walked our bikes back down the hill - more accurately slid them down as there was zero grip - in gear, clutch out, back wheel locked but sliding then ease the bike down the slope. I don't think any were dropped. All followed by Tea in Kettlewell.

Quite an eventful day out. :)

Thank's to every one who turned out today , and helped to make it a good day

It's never good to see a bike go over, but it was good to see no one was hurt

Top mark's to Pete for keeping his bike upright on the snow his tyre's were like track day special's

compared to my tkc 80's

The biggest downside was I missed my chip's in hawe's

Some good roads round there I learn't to ride on a C15T on those roads & have driven most of them in my road rallying days.
