Thursday Ferry gets in to Troon about 18.30.Any locals able to give an idea if its really feasible to get to Glencoe from Troon before its too dark to find the place.Or is there anywhere closer to camp?

Yea Troon ferry is a crap time on Thur so i booked the early crossing from Belfast to Cairnryan. Its only 100 miles down the road from Troon. Shouldent imagine i will make Ullapool on Thursday. If not i may spend the night at Red Squirrel of wild camp somewhere futher north.

Correction its only 50 odd miles from Troon so i may well make Ullapool on Thur evening. Sailing is 0730 hrs arrives Cairnryan at 0952hrs

Also keep in mind, the Bealach Mor is on Saturday, so the road to Applecross will be heaving with cyclists.. might even be shut to motorised traffic?

went past the loch weekend before last and was gobsmacked by the low level of water - I first thought that maybe the dam had sprung a leak  .
Spotted the bridge shown in the BBC article as I crawled past the place, gawping at bits of Scotland that haven't seen the light of day for tens of years.

Yep that's the special low friction model ,which runs on rear offside flange tweeters instead of wheels.
Goes over the bumps beautifully !,,,

I was surprised to read that it was low on water, expected it to say it had overflowed and washed away some soil to show the old road etc.

Was past that way a couple weeks back and also noted they (whoever they are) have chopped down all the trees that were at the side of the road/Loch on that route.
