Any suggestions for route?

Post by coasty »

Hi

I am planning on leaving early Friday morning, maps say approx 270 miles. I am leaving from Bexley area and heading up somewhere near the A1 (m). Having been for a test ride on the Pegaso, I cant see me travelling much above 65mph :( and Ideally I would like to stay off the motorway as much as possible. Does anyone have any suggestions for waypoints to avoid the monotony of motorways and take in some interesting roads and places?

Also is anyone heading up and wants to meet up to ride together.

I visit peterb'gh a lot, the A1 is mostly ok but it can be tedious. For something different, try the A15, it has reasonably twisty sections but remains quick. So here's my suggestion:

A1 to Peterb'gh (just to make progress out of London).
A15 to Humber Bridge (free)
A164 to Beverley
B1248 to Wetwang (good fish n chips)
B1248 to Malton (great road)
A169 to Pickering
A169 to Whitby
Follow signs to Goathland before you get to Whitby
