Re: Slinky Glide Cables - any good? [No!]
You're not the only one buying bits from the USA, Japanese original parts can be incredibly expensive. If you need cables making up for any make or age of motorcycle, try J&J cables. J.J Cables Ltd Tel: 01926 651470| Hillfields Farm, Lighthorne, Warwick, Warwickshire CV35 0BQ (off J12 M40 near G...

Re: So who has bits of metal screwed in them?
Sorry to hear about your injury. Hope things improve and it heals up well.
Had too many injuries and broken bits over the years, but have been fairly lucky not to have any permanent hardware in me.
Good luck mate.

Re: suzuki gs850
Still plugging away at this bike. I have had a few lucky finds to replace some seriously knackered parts. S/H battery carrier and electrics mounting plate from a breaker down south and a very good rear mudguard section both at fair prices. Brake pipes from Goodrich now fitted and the brakes checked ...

Re: Ride out on new bike
That's looking great, beautifully restored. There is a big following for these early two strokes. I had a Fanny Barnet as a youngster, did lots of miles and apart from it nipping up occasionally never gave any problems. Just sat beside the road for a while having a fag until it cooled down, then a q...

Chain adjuster - Trials Bikes?
Mooching about for some parts on ebay, I came across this chain adjuster. Although I'm not in the market for this item, it does show just how cheaply goods are produced in China. I used to send loads of work out to the far east and typically would beat UK manufactured prices by at least a half and d...

Re: Flower Power - well ivy anyway
That's one of the military bikes. These were typically supplied with camouflage foliage, the colouring determined by their intended use. There was also a desert variant complete with sand bonded onto a resin base, with sand spiders and scorpion detailing. It looks like the seat is not an original fi...

Re: KTM400EXC v Suzuki DR350SE
I had an 04 400EXC. Best trail bike that I ever owned. Tough, easy to maintain, very good handling. I can't think of a single bad thing to say about these bikes other than the steering can be a bit flighty at high speed hard acceleration out of bends. This is easy to sort with a steering damper. Th...

Re: Looking for a new bike
Why not a practical classic? Plenty of good machines to chose from and no chance of it costing you a penny as you get you're money back or more than you paid when you sell the bike. How about one of these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1985-Yamaha-SRX600-Unregistered-Jap-Import-Barn-Find-Classic-Restora...
