Re: Biker down help with bike needed near Ayr

What is the damage to the pannier? And what is 'moony'?

My experience of accidents is that days 2 & 3 are often the worst from a stiffness and bruising point of view, so I would concur with the advice to do the minimum of repairs to get mobile and then press on to Ullapool ASAP.

Re: rear number plate slogan

I saw this slogan at the Welland Steam Rally yesterday - 'Your Skid Stops Here".

It was on one of these http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L118_light_gun - probably not so appropriate on a bike.

Re: Battlefields Tour

The Douamont ossuary - I visited it almost 40 years ago when I was about 10 and still remember the effect that it had on me. Few things convey the scale of the slaughter like a room full of skulls. And then there was a stack of thigh bones like a firewood pile about 4 ft high and 8 or 10 feet long. ...

Re: How do you charge kit?

I am planning to do the same thing. I suggest that you use the smaller accessory socket that BMW uses on their bikes, rather than the cigar lighter type which are used in cars. The plugs fit much more securely into the sockets and are much less likely to fall out en route. Halfords sell them: http:/...

Re: Scottoiler (touring) - problems priming it

Hi It's a while since I have used a Scottoiler, so someone might come in and correct me. However ... What do you mean by 'putting it all back together'? After priming, I don't think that you should do any assembly. Just disconnect the bottle, and fold the filler tube away. Actually, I don't remember...

Re: Who else has a Landy then?

I bought a heated waistcoat last winter. Next planned upgrade for the ltwt is a socket to plug it into.

Re: Clean the garage or go to the lakes? not hard choice!

A nice report - thank you. I find that bungees are better than ratchet straps, and also it is a good idea to strap one item down first and make that really secure - choose something with a bit of weight and rigidity to it like a tent or folding bed/chair, then strap other things so that they are pul...

Re: Frustrated at traffic lights

We have automatic gates at work, and the rectangle shaped tarmac with the tar edges is plain to see. Still doesn't detect any of my bikes. If there is no car leaving which I can tailgate through the gate I have to open it by swiping my pass. Ironically, I am told that pushbike riders can open the ga...

Re: Who else has a Landy then?

I'm another one. 1979 SIII Lightweight, 2002 Td5 Disco. And lurking at the bottom of the garden, waiting for funds to become available for a project, is my 1991 200 Tdi LWB CSW Defender. I should really sell the Disco because it doesn't get used enough. But with winter coming, I am reluctant to be w...

Re: Best Recovery options?

I am with the RAC, through my bank account. I am not very impressed. Most recent call was on Friday, when my old Land Rover broke down in Worcester just before the rush hour - apologies to anyone whose weekend was delayed. When the mechanic arrived, he was excellent - he could have given me a jump s...
