Re: ABR Ireland 2024
Fabulous area. Put me down for this one as I won't be going to France until later in the year. Not sure if you have chosen the camp pitch yet, but between Bantry and Glengarriffe there is Eagle Point, by the sea. It has hedges that also provide sheltered pitches. I have stayed there a few times. som...

Re: Screens - I’m confused.
I have a number of K bikes, all with different screens but underneath the configuration is the same. One is very low, love it, more exposed but with the right gear rain noise buffetting has not been an issue. My go to bike for the heat in Spain and France and discovered this by accident as I intende...

Re: Biking Brotherhood?
Thats how life is. Many years back people would step up but the average motorcyclist back then knew stuff. i have funny stories of having a Honda 500-4 in the early-mid 70s and stopped one day clutch cable issue [had a spare]. Guy stopped to help but as he said himself he' would not know where to st...

Re: Has the time come for more comuter bikes
To be able to commute on a bike you need to think through how you store bike gear. So in nice weather no big deal. Wet morning.....put on gear and ride to work or wherever. Store gear when you get there.....so if its wet gear how do you do that? For the ride home, wet gear? Maybe you have some place...

Re: Has the time come for more comuter bikes
I put my car off the road for the summer in April 2017 In September 2017 I went to France and while I was there ended up adding a K1100LT to my bikes..... Somehow I did not put the car back on the road for the 6 months of the winter.....its now October 2023 and I still haven't put it back on the roa...

Re: YSS basic shock and wilbers fork spring review
I have various model K bikes, from 83 K100RS to 97 K1100LT. Looking at shocks, I have a range of them, RAM, Koni [not Ikon], Hagon, YSS, YSS budget and of course original BMW. I have done lots of travelling on them, loaded up too and even pulling a trailer. So good comparisons. Of all of them the KO...

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
Ex army drawstring waterproof bags (in green) are excellent for gear in panniers--but I agree--Lidl bags are very robust to. On the strap front BMW do provide straps on both the inner and lid just for that purpose. They are elasticated but could be a little more robust--and could be replaced if I h...

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
I love practical solutions like this. Maybe an old t-shirt can be sewn up to make similar bag. Put loops put on the t-shirt and hooks inside the cases to keep them steady. Putting lots of stuff in all that storage space can lead to a lot of weight far back on a lightweight bike. Care must be taken ...
