Re: Is PCP........... the next debt crisis???
If you can't afford a new vehicle anymore, you will buy a used one. That dip in used vehicles is only going to be in a useless toys, not the commuter or family cars.

Anybody work with GRP?
After being steered away from welding myself a stainless steel water tank, which I was very excited about, I am considering building a GRP water tank for my boat. Now trying to gather as much info as possible. Does anybody have experience working with GRP for potable water tanks? There is plenty of ...

Re: Chains ~ Why??
I've never had a problem with chains,as long as you keep them lubed. And a lot cheaper to fix than a shaft! I just thought this was another 'post' from JB on how good GS's are,cos they're shaft drive,so must be the best bikes in the world? :P Shaft Drive on Adv bikes GS's have it Cross Tourer has i...

Re: Chains ~ Why??
Something got me thinking On bikes over 600 cc why are we still bothering with chains ? Nasty, oily and god forsaken things, that need oiling/cleaning and adjustment The back of the bike gets covered in oil and muck ....grrr Surely shaft drive and/or belt drive is a better way forward in the 21st C...

Re: bmc diesel engines from 60's 70's
Have you tried running some diesel injector cleaner through the system? From progress so far, it looks as though the engine's pretty sound, so it may just be a bit of cr@p slightly fouling one injector. A good cleanout won't do any harm :) I am sceptical about those automotive wonder fluids, sold o...

Re: bmc diesel engines from 60's 70's
Thanks Steve for the info. I can report that the engine did happily almost 100hrs. All the rockers look like they are well lubricated, no oil consumption or blue smoke :) Planning of flushing oil again, changing engine mounts, fuel lines and exhaust. And hopefully will see many more happy hours of c...

Re: bmc diesel engines from 60's 70's
Hi, All the wiring is gone and I am rebuilding the wiring loom, as everything was just an awful mess :( I was thinking about dropping the sump, but the access is really awkward :( And before running the engine I filled it up with fresh oil and cranked with oil pressure switch and oil filter off unti...

Re: bmc diesel engines from 60's 70's
Well got the engine going :) Runs quite sweet. A bit of smoke, but they all seem to be smoking a bit and all the shit has to burn out anyways. Got a few bits and bobs to sort out, but my main worry at the moment is oil pressure. Does anybody know the part number for oil pressure switch? As the curre...
