Holy crap! $650 for a tarp, what's the world coming to! If I want to lie in the mud I've got a £5 nylon tarp I can sling over the bike, and it weighs less that a kilo! I'd rather sleep in my nice tent with ground sheet, with a thermorest mattress, still at less money and weight!

That's really shit :-( I too was at the '89 Bol, it was a nightmare. We ended up staying up all night in shifts watching out for each other. Their was also a big Suzuki that had its brake calipers pinched that night :-( I went back a few times and it was always the same, a mate had the hi-level Term...

Got stopped at the motorway border without one, the guy had a good look around my bike, smiled, and waved me off! Maybe I got lucky, but it shows they will look for one.
