Wow I have an update. Well i had a replacement tank, fuel system, fuel pump etc. And all is well, well it was for 2 months a 4k miles. Bike is back in with Honda, with the same problem. So another warranty strip down and rebuild costing honda another £2.5k. Also asked them to change the front wheel ...

Re: Ops Life threatening problem with my ATAS
My thinking, is maybe it is just the Adventure Sport version, as everyone that has contacted me has one of those. The tank is different to the standard Africa Twin as it is larger, so maybe they use a different process in those tanks.....

Re: Ops Life threatening problem with my ATAS
No problem Steve. Not very happy with being almost killed by a new bike. So big update from Dealer. This is a warranty job, costing Honda £2,500. The bike needs new fuel pump, new injectors, all new gaskets basically anything to do with fuel. Plus a new tank, I reminded them that it was an anniversa...

Re: Ops Life threatening problem with my ATAS
Lucky its still under warranty Si!!! hope you get it sorted, imagine the cost if you hadn't have it happen now!    Yes mate agree with that. Makes me think I might extend my warranty in a years time, for another 2 years. As the bike after 4 years will have 64,000miles o...

Re: Ops Life threatening problem with my ATAS
Steve been riding for over 20 years and in my 50's. So i'm catching you up. I also do 16,000miles a year on all weathers. My Bike an 18 plate Africa Twin DCT cost me £13,500, so a bloody big investment. I don't expect it to try and kill me on the motorway, by cutting out randomly, everytime I ride i...

Re: Ops Life threatening problem with my ATAS
Before speculating any further I would get that grit analysed to determine exactly what it is. Then you can trace it back to how it got into the fuel system. . Fuel filter mesh is that intact. What micron filtration does it offer as some fine particles might have got through. Get Honda to check for...

Re: Ops Life threatening problem with my ATAS
Bike has never been off road and I use UK petrol stations, so unless they add flakes and grit and sand to their petrol in petrol stations, I reckon it has always been in there. I also live in Kent, The other blokes, who I don't know live in Belgium and Scotland.... No way, went in when filling up wi...
