Thanks for all the replies so far, very useful. Would far prefer to support biker places like 3b's biking rather than horrible municipal camp sites..

A few of us are planning a loop around France in October. Most of the camp sites would be closed by then , anyone have a list of alternate places to camp for example, biker places . Looking in around the Lyon area but also plan to be further north .
