Re: Kriega Bags
I would like these, please, if all the mounting straps are present. The thin straps sound like the loop straps which attach to the bike. For the US20 and US10s, there are 4 of these for each bag, and 4 straps which have an aluminium hook at one end and a click-buckle at the other end. The buckles cl...

Re: Sidecar recommendations for GS
KMZ is the name (one of the names?) used for the Russian sidecars before the break up of the USSR, so it is the same pre-war BMW design as Urals and Dneprs. If it is in reasonable condition, then the tub should be perfectly useable on the left side of the bike. The sidecar chassis probably won't be ...

Re: Sidecar recommendations for GS
I intended to say that you should have a look at the ukgser and ADVrider forums. ADVrider in particular has some very interesting sidecar build threads, including a couple on BMW R11xx bikes. The Ural/Dnepr sidecars were originally designed by BMW before the war (the BMW combinations which chase Ste...

Re: Sidecar recommendations for GS
I have a Dnepr sidecar on an 1150GS. It seems to work very well - I was a complete sidecar novice until I bought this about March last year, and it took me about 3 weeks to get the hang of it. On my first outing, I had several unplanned visits to the verge and the other side of the road, and had to ...

Re: Fork straightening
I think that the first thing is to confirm whether or not the fork is bent, and if so, where the bend is. I would think that almost any engineering workshop could do that for you.
If something is bent, I would replace that part rather than straightening it.

"I think Clive said he has a more 'authentic' top box if you want it"
Does "more authentic" mean big and square, with pizza company livery on it?

"Do the ownership transfer electronically, putting in your email address to get the time and date stamp confirmation. That way its his issue if he choose to drive away. If he drives past an ANPR on the way home though and hasnt chosen to insure or tax, it's unlikely to trigger anything, as neit...

Re: Max gear weight for soft pannier
I suspect that all luggage manufacturers who publish weight limits for their products will be very conservative about them. There are so many variables which will affect how well a bag tolerates a particular weight - is it all in one place, or spread through the load? All smooth surfaces, or sharp c...

Re: rubber well nuts as side case support?
I'm not sure about this. I believe that the plastic wellness are used as sacrificial mountings for fairings because they break easily - in the event of an accident, the bolts break or the walnuts pull out of their mountings and so save the fairing panels from breaking. They might work well, or they ...
