I don't like being fleeced either mate, and us solo bike camper use very little for what we pay.

Supply and demand I would think. Sites charge what campers will pay. If those campsites are on farms then they might even have a tiny bit of sympathy, farmers are in serious trouble just now.

I didn't know bikes have stop start technology, I mean mine does but only because it's shit.

Yes VStrom 250, I've not seen one in the flesh, either its a tiny bike or he's a massive dude. I'm guessing the latter as they didn't have army boots in his size. Imagine going to war without boots...

If it was me and I needed a commuter I'd go for a nearly new CB500X. Super reliable and easily tweaked for gentle off road. If off road was more important I would get another CRF Rally.
