Re: ABR Ireland Weekend 2023 - Sign Up Thread

Sounds like you are on Armourique into Cork on the Wednesday morning. I am not sure of my holiday movements yet but I usually go to France in May but not booked this year yet as I had to wait for the date for my sons conferring. If I go I am likely to be on that ferry, if not might grab you for a c...

Re: ABR Ireland Weekend 2023 - Sign Up Thread

Cheers Flinty - looks like I´ll be doing some of that route on my way there (riding up through France as I haven´t done that for a while - then ferry into Cork - but the timings give me a few days to play with). Its been a while since I racked up over 1,000 miles heading somewhere. Plenty to do and...

Re: Bulbs in France

Going to France for many years and never been stopped/checked etc. I always have spare bulbs in the car or bike. I use a Richa Hiviz over jacket and that solves it.

But you will get done if you dont wear gloves! You can wear crocs, shorts, you name it. But you must have gloves.

Re: The Cost of Camping - 2022

I go to the same place in France and am headed back again next month. 12 days on a large pitch to myself is working out at €14 a day, includes showers and electricty. Over a number of years from 2014 the adult cost including showers has gone from €4.50 to €6.00 in 2020 and it has not changed since....

Re: Petrol in France

What route are you taking? I believe Cherbourg/Rennes/Nantes/Niort/Bordeaux is ok on the services but you pay for them. Having done it recently I would certainly carry some spare fuel and get fuel if you see it available.

Those opening hours are usually about 8am - noon.

Re: First time in France on a bike

I go a lot and just back after 3 weeks there. Almost all fuel pumps card operated and no cash. Be prepared for your cards being refused at fuel pumps. Issue of reading them! Total have a big promotion on and a lot of their stations out of fuel. Petrol stations have become scarce so dont let fuel run...

Re: Tyre price increase alert

i get through lots of tyres, in a typical year get through 4 rears and 2-3 fronts. Funny thing is a set I got in mid May cost me the same as a set 3 years earlier, same tyres, same specs, same bike. That set from May is being replaced next week on the same bike and same price again. The rear will be...

Re: Don't bother going to Wales again

I travel to my daughter in Long Marston near Tring fairly regularly. Over the last 3 1/2 years I have never been able to average better than 40mph whether I go to Fishguard [M4] or Holyhead [M1/M6/A55]. Nothing to do with me or the bike, just traffic, restrictions, roadworks and the usual stuff. I g...
