Re: Go Big and Ride Small
nice Bob--a lot lighter than the Burgman 400 I had!--even a spare wheel I see. Just a chrome rear rack and you are ready to tour. Very popular in France and plenty of group rallies here in the UK.

Re: F700GS Owners
I have a F800 GT with tyre pressure monitoring installed--BUT no display when I bought it recently. I reckon the sensors(one or both) have run out of their 5 year battery and the display has been disabled. I now have the Motoscan kit to reset the ECU WHEN I get new sensors from CHINA and TEST them p...

Re: Lands End/Cornwall Trial 100th edition
I did the lands end proper many years ago and I remember blue hills--I was on an XR250--got a silver. I've also done the other two--overnight is hard!

Re: KLR 650 ABS base model
Glad to hear you are settling in. I had a matt green KLR 650 when I worked for CAT in Peoria a few years ago. I didn't do much to it and it certainly did everything quite well--including the county dirt roads in Arkansas. I have now bought a second hand F800 GT--same engine as your GS I believe, but...

Re: Wet weather trousers
I've had good success with Oxford stuff--not even their laminate version. However, for trail riding , and heavy rain on the road, its German army goretex salopettes in XXL, and also a long jacket with a two way zip so it spreads out like an old dispatch riders coat. Being XXL and flappy lots of the ...
Re: *%^**!!!
Simple global warming--warmer air can carry more moisture and hence any rainfall is more extreme. The biggest worry is that ice melt in the Artic will stop the Atlantic conveyor currents and then we will get a lot colder--not even thinking about sea level rise and coastal flooding--London will need ...

Re: Steering stem cracks
I look forward to the metallurgy report on this interesting "fault"--perhaps try some two part crack detector in the area---red dye, wipe clean and then white developer--the red die will soak through from the crack and show up against the white overspray.

Re: Steering stem cracks
I cannot understand why the "cracks " are so open yet there appears to be NO deformation of the stem (alignment) that would cause them to open, and no hairline cracks either side which you would expect. To me they just look like nicks from a cutting disc. However, replacement is the best c...

Re: KLR 650 ABS base model
Now that is an unusual fault on a new bike--glad you have it sorted and good luck--spring is on the way !!. I've just sold an R1100RS and bought a F800 GT--yet to pick it up --seems much lighter than the 1100 and I can get my leg over the seat (just) --and its a standard seat--lower options are avai...
