Re: Sri Lanka
In 2001 I spent 3 months out there and hired a XR250 for about £4 for 22hrs so hired it for about 5 days. Bought a local map and headed off from Welligamma to Kandy via the mountains up to Nuwara Eliya following tracks and minor roads, in fact mostly off road. You can ride anywhere you like so I rod...

Re: What would put you off buying a GS1200/1250?
Could not care less about the image. I have a 2010 1200GSA (TC). Had a R1100GS before. The 1200 is just a brilliant all round bike, great engine with a great note from the standard exhaust & all day comfort. You only notice the weight/bulk of it when you have to move it around (parking/turning ...

Re: Riding in mud!
For me its having the right tyres, bike and mental attitude as sometimes its easy to get into the mud but not so easy to get out. The AT is a big heavy bike in the mud so momentum is your friend if you have suitable tyres to get traction when you need it. Of course the right tyres can mean a terribl...

Re: Triumph to BMW, new GS owner
Great bikes Im on my 3rd one as they have evolved. Does everything well and a really nice ride eating up the miles in comfort when needed plus they shift when needed. One tip is too keep an eye on the spokes ensuring they are tight as there was an issue with them although it may have been solved on ...

Re: not a proper adventure bike
I ride a BMW GSA and never take it off road as for me its really a road bike and does the touring thing perfectly with all my gear. An adventure is anywhere you like and I have travelled a fair bit for quite a few years in different countries. The most remote over the mountains during the civil war ...

The defusers work really well in windy weather and also saves Gas. I have a Primus stove and Jet boil which uses the same principles
