Re: A photo you took, today
Looks good, far easier on the eye than the KTM equivalent.... did it replace another bike?
Yes... got to get around to selling my GSA soon. Probably wait a couple of months though. I'm really pleased with the Norden.
Hi Paul, is it good 2 up. I am having similar thoughts and looking...

Hi, the front one was overfilled but the back brake was the one not releasing. Linked brakes I suppose.bikenav wrote:so your problem was an overfilled master cylinder? on the front or rear brake?

Re: Brake Disc has blue rings of Saturn. Normal or not.
Update, did the step on the caliper. What? Stand at the right rear of your bike facing the brake caliper. Grab and hold the rear subframe, place your foot on the outside of caliper, where it says BMW, hold the subframe and push the caliper with your foot. This should cause the caliper to slide on i...

Re: Brake Disc has blue rings of Saturn. Normal or not.
Update, did the step on the caliper. Also I noticed that brake fluid was seeping out of the front brake fluid reservoir. No leak just fron under the cap. Used a paper towel and reduced the level. Checked the rear its below the max mark. Rode the bike without applying any brakes front or rear. Checke...

Re: Brake Disc has blue rings of Saturn. Normal or not.
I have no knowledge of BMWs, but quite a lot about bikes (started riding when drum brakes were still a regular rear-wheel fitment). The disc should only be getting hot in use. If it is dragging sufficiently to heat up without being applied, then the situation just gets worse and worse (the disc exp...

Re: Brake Disc has blue rings of Saturn. Normal or not.
if you do have free play on the pedal I would exaggerate this to test, and check that play has not reduced when in a warm disc condition, but if that is OK, an unlikely but possible is that if you overfill the rubber boots over the sliders with grease you can create a pressure in the caliper mechan...

Re: Brake Disc has blue rings of Saturn. Normal or not.
Hi, thanks, will try there. Just a question next time anyone is riding, can you please check your rear discs to see if they are too hot to touch compared to the fronts.Agent Orange wrote:Have you asked on the ukger forum? lots more experts on there.

Re: Brake Disc has blue rings of Saturn. Normal or not.
At Off Road Skills, its such a common problem for people to ride with the rear brake dragging on a big GS and bluing the disc that they mention it at every course's briefing. I think its because the action from the foot pedal is so rubbish that you cant feel it unless you're stamping on it. So blue...
