Re: Ktm 390 adventure

I have one and have ridden it on the trails a bit. It does have an odd, unnatural standing position, in keeping with its road derived underpinnings, which does take some adjusting to and ideally needs the SW Motech footpeg kit to flatten the angle of them, but I still have fun on it and find it pret...

Re: CUSTOM CLEARING A BIKE IN USA AND DOCUMENTS

I would assume from the fact you're air freighting the bike in that you're using one of the bike shippers on this side of the pond. If that's the case then I would ask them. I know that there is a form that you MUST get stamped by customs at point of entry, otherwise it's a ballache to get the bike ...

Re: What are big Adventure bikes for?

can't get it to embed. Bugger. Quick video from my recent Iceland trip. As a bike to ride up to Denmark on, explore the island and take a pillion for some of it I can't think of a better bike than a GS and others of a similar ilk, though obv...

Re: cheap ferry to France, is it possible

Dfds has a bike offer on at the moment. Nice ferries as well. Just paid £60 return dover to calais which I didn't think was too bad

Re: fatal flaw or sour grapes

I think anyone who's been on the bmw off road skills course will attest they're very capable machines, or more so than most people give them credit for. But as you say, everything has a limit, and fully loaded and ridden hard there's bound to be issues eventually. But good point earlier about the br...

Re: fatal flaw or sour grapes

There's a picture on the advrider thread abut the subject of the front wheel that had about a foot long flat spot from an impact prior to the forks giving in. I think severe off road use is causing it. Though that's not to deny a 'problem'. Maybe it's the inevitably of asking a bike to be all thing...

Re: New ADV bike from SWM

As I say, a dealer confirmed it. I'll contact swm in Italy and double check. If it's just a couple of litres of oil every 3000 miles it's not the end of the world. Anyone know what the Husqvarna TE610 intervals were?
... Just checked and they were 5000kay as well.

Re: New ADV bike from SWM

It is 5000 kilometres intervals. A dealer confirmed it. Weight is contentious. I wrote 186 kilos dry in my copy, as that was the spec on the website. But it feels nowhere near a 200 kilo wet bike. If a CCM is a genuine 130kilo I'd say the SWM feels more like a 150-160 kilo bike. It's a bit like a GS...

Re: New ADV bike from SWM

Yeah I'd agree with all that Minky. Service intervals do seem short. And agreed, once that £700 gets added for Euro 4 it's not going to be cheap, arguably too expensive. In terms of weight it doesn't feel anywhere near 180kilos. That's heavier than my Terra TR650 and it felt lighter than that. Tough...
