Re: XTZ Qs
Most likely the reg/rec fault that a few XTZ's have suffered from – the connectors inside plug on top of the reg/rec corrodes. Yamaha warranty fix in the past has been to replace loom and reg/rec. If it were mine and it's out of warranty, I'd probably replace the reg/rec with a more reliable one, an...

Re: I always slow down for horses, but should we?.
I've always slowed down for horses, be it on motor or mountain bike – courtesy and common sense doesn't cost anything. Of course the common sense aspect applies both ways and I was taken by surprise on Saturday on the Taunton to Minehead road. If any of you know it, you'll know how fast traffic trav...

UK to Bologna via Alps – Which route???
Next year's summer bike trip is going to be a trip to Italy so a friend and life-long Ducatista can undertake his right of passage and finally visit the factory in Bologna. Clearly this requires us to cross the Alps at some point, and I've no intention of using the tunnels and motorways if it can be...

Re: honda nc 700x check it out
I took the NC 700X out for a spin a few weeks back as I was considering it as replacement for my Tenere. Have to say that coming at it from a thumper probably helps with acceptance as we're already used to an engine that only revs up to that kind of range (the XTZ does go to 7K but I've always felt ...

Predictable, I know. Has to be the Ducati 916. The only sports bike I covet.

Re: Tenere handguards
Go with Bark busters mate – but if, like me, you still feel there are too many vibes getting through (the barkbusters weights aren't as heavy as the stock Ten weights) then do what I did and drill, and tap the ends of the existing weights to take an 8mm bolt. Worked like a charm

Re: What were you riding 10 years ago?
10 years ago my two-wheeled fun involved far more effort
Come to think of it, I'm still riding these today – just a bit slower, and seemingly with less skill (don't know how that happened, must be an age thing)

Re: my coast to coast trip on my baby Varadero
Nice route mate – 125cc or 1200cc makes no difference when the scenery is that spectacular. You need only look at the mileage on used bikes to realise what the average covered by many riders is. I find it insulting when bikers look down their noses at 125s and yet their own bikes have covered just 4...

Re: So when is a thread blatant advertising?
Nathan and Sam are hardly likely to get rich over night from the sales of a few books to forum members, and if the money they generate allows them to travel and further document those travels then surely it is we travel-obsessed individuals that ultimately benefit from the enjoyment of reading about...
