Re: What's the smallest bike you'd use for a multi-day Euro trip?
I think it also depends on who you are going with and what they are riding. I went touring once on my Triumph Street Triple after the Multistrada had blown up the week before...However, the guys I was going with were on Adventure or Touring bikes and we had planned to spend the first day and last da...

I was really impressed with the V strom aswell. In the end I went for the Versys purely down to the offer at the time. Had the deals been identical I would have probably plumbed for the VStrom. Very underestimated bit of kit.

Re: France for a Novice
If you buy this months Ride magazine it has a separate mag in their called The Ride guide to France. Loads of routes, what to take, not to take etc.
I always find these helpful when I'm planning something.

Re: latest government plan to ban diesels
The thing to do is buy a new ICE bike in 2039 then you can still run it for as long as you like. You are just not aloud to buy new vehicles from then that are diesel/petrol driven.
I would imagine by then hybrid motorcycles will have come out and be quite popular.

Re: Quick erect tents...anyone use one?
I often think about pop up tents. If they could make them slightly smaller, as in when they are packed, they would be perfect for the bike. For summers only obviously. I always find it a chore putting up a tent if you've been riding for 8-10 hours.

Re: GY to WAW

Then around 3 ish everyday I would look to see where I could possibly get to then got on booking.com and booked accommod...

Re: What are big Adventure bikes for?
To answer the original question "What are big adventure bikes for?" and to try and keep it short, they are best at long distance road touring and light trails, gravel tracks etc.
Obviously that is just my opinion but that is what they are best at IMO.
