Re: Ural's, I think

I found I was constanly being pulled to one side whenever I open the throttle, That is what put me in the ditch. More precisely, it was the opposite effect - the side car wheel is not powered and not braked, so when you accelerate the side car drags the bike towards it. When you brake, the sidecar ...

Re: Ural's, I think

I have a Dnepr sidecar on an R1150GS (currently off the road). I bought it about 2 years ago. I was looking to get back on two wheels and had always been curious about sidecars. This combination came up on ebay, and emphasised how easily the sidecar could be detached from the bike, so I thought I wo...

Re: covid dystopia

This ( intuitive comprehension) of course, is the very opposite of 'science ' as it is instructed to be understood in these times. I have to strongly disagree with this. I think that "intuitive comprehension" is one of the foundations of science rather than "the very opposite". ...

Re: 12v USB power question?

Thanks Hugh. That is very helpful. In that diagram, the control circuit runs through the relay horizontally from right to left and the accessory circuit runs vertically from bottom to top. To clarify what I wrote earlier: The control circuit carries very little current and is used simply to switch t...

Re: 12v USB power question?

Compressors take a lot of power ... probably best run direct from the battery. (I'm no fan of cig-lighter sockets - they seems to disconnect/fall out if you so much as look at them!). Phone charging, though, is low-power..... running a USB socket from the sidelight switched feed should be OK unless...

Re: Hgv driving licence renewal medical beware..!

The licence and the photo have separate expiry dates. My licence (cars and motorcycles) expires the day before my 70th birthday, but the photo is only valid for 10 years. I had to supply a new photo last year when I changed address, even though the licence was valid for another 14 years at that poin...

Re: 12v USB power question?

How old is your bike? If it has a CANBUS system, I don't know anything about them so this might not work. Pre-CANBUS, you could supply your socket assembly through a relay, and then use some thing like the rear light circuit to trigger the relay. This would mean that the sockets are only powered whi...

Re: Covid 19 Coronavirus

I don't believe anybody is born selfish but they can become that way from poor parenting, social circumstances and life experiences. The same applies to many criticisms leveled against the young. I think it is the other way round - we are born extremely selfish, and need to be taught to be consider...

Re: Dual Use Items

Wine bottles fit nicely in motorcycle boots, and boots tend to be more stable. If you are on really rough ground, tie two boots together with a bungee or luggage strap, then put your wine in one of them.
