Ex Police Pan Europeans - Horror Stories
I've fancied picking up a Pan for while now and with the police dumping their fullstock on the market there's some great deals to be had out there - check out the prices on Ebay. However, I've been told that the cops have been cutting a chunk out of the frames on these bikes and classing them as 'no...

Triumph Sprint Bar Risers
I own a Triumph Sprint Executive 885 1998 and have been looking for bar risers for a while with no joy. If anyone passing through knows of anywhere I can get hold of these please let me know. I've managed to find risers for just about all Triumph models bar the pre-1999 Sprint.

BMW 1200RT v Honda Pan European
I met a couple of guys from Gloucester in Fort William over the weekend. They had driven up to Carlisle on the first night and then a big day up to the Isle of Skye and back down to Fort William. T hey were then heading home next morning. As I quite fancy a Pan myself (although I must confess the RT...

Tips for Long Distance Touring
I thought I'd start a thread on long distance touring tips. What I mean here are non bike related things you can do to stay more alert and ride longer distances in comfort and safety. Here's a couple of ideas to get you going..... Ear Plugs Do not underestimate the tiring effect of the constant batt...

I'll ride slower when they stop claiming for porno
I was talking to a few wise old heads in Stratford the other night about the proposed reduction of the national speed limit to 50mph. As you'd expect from a bunch of grizzled old men in leathers with warp factor burns on their lids there was not one in support of the proposal. In fact the unanimous ...

Ouch!!!!, that hurt. Devastating repair bills.
Having bought a 11 year old Triumph Tiger 885 off Ebay 10 days ago and put as many miles on the clock as the last owner did in almost 2 years I've had the main crank bearing throw a wobbler and the repair bill is going to cost me the best part of a £1000. Ouch, ouch, ouch. If I look on the bright si...

Motorcycle touring - what's the first decision?
When I sit here at home thinking of all the places I want to travel the first thought that enters my head is what bike do I need to get there. However, on a more practical note the choice of bike, although not irrelevant, is hardly the critical issue - there's nothing to stop me going around the wor...

Will the price of bikes increase?
Okay, we're in a recession that shows no sign of bottoming out and as of today (and according to Government calculations) we're facing deflation. So, my question is, where are we going over the next 12 months with the price of bikes both new and second hand? My best guess is; New Bikes Due to the va...

Hello, I'm Alun and I'm setting up this site in my spare time - 'spare' meaning when I'm not out riding, doing my proper job (I've owned a magazine called Adventure Travel for 15 years) or dribbling over the thought of buying another bike on Ebay. My job takes me overseas regularly and I've been hik...
