Check the output from the alternator if that's low there's the problem
At the battery engine running should show about 14 volts good luck

Ive a f650gs 2004 ftd a mudguard march 2010 and gaitors same time and never had a problem but i dont ride hard which could make a difference. Gaitors from motorworks about£18 the m/guard from touratech about £75. I also only fly solo Do your own thing n go your own way. MAKE MINE A GUINESS

dont blame you without doubt the best bike ive ever ridden/owned yr 2000 carbed only problems i had ~ heavy in tight spaces garage/shed , 180 to 130miles per 20 litres but still a great bike greybeard
