I think the Army Issue Bivvy bag is a great bit of kit
I’ve slept out in the rain in mine with no over head cover and all I had was a small amount of dampness on the top of my bag in the morning

You will be fine to meet up on the Quay
They won’t have closed the quay off to cars that early but there is plenty of free bike parking on the quay so you will be okay to meet there and it’s only over the bridge to the ferry port
