Yes, those are good ideas, the reason I like the american one is that it's clear and is marked with the emergency medical symbol, it's the sort of thing that gets your notice. It does seem as though most of the medical profession won't use it at the scene, but if it's sitting there saying "ICE'...

You're going to drop it at some point, we all did, so get to grips and make mistakes on something not shiny and new and save your money for after you pass your test and buy a nicer bike when you're upgrading. Just a note of caution regarding satnavs and motorways. My girlfriend is on L-plates and I use my garmin zumo 550 to avoid motorways, however sometimes it decides to direct us onto a motorway even when all the options to avoid them are set. My girlfriend is 5'11, and we recently bought her a Honda Varadero 125. She prefers the more 'sat up' style of bike and this feels much more like a big bike than a 125. Seems to be popular with larger learner riders.

Might be worth a look.
