Re: Other Stuff

The one that gets me is FedEx - they have been around since the dinosaurs and still can't give better than a 24hour delivery slot. DPD give an hour delivery slot, Amazon you can track live - they really do seem to have it sorted compared to an established name in the game. On the plus side FedEx wil...

Re: Other Stuff

My first big bike Vincent Comet I brought in large bits for £10 cost another £30 to get it on the road, went to N Ireland on it a few times as I was an apprentice in Bristol & parents lived in Bangor (NI). Put the fairing on for one of the trips but generally used it in naked form. Sold it in 1...

Re: Other Stuff

Had a bit of time to spare and produced a list of bikes I have had. Both ends of the spectrum, some absolutely great and others atrocious - in fact so bad I had to dig really deep in the brain to undelete, particularly the Vespa (only thing I have ridden that I sold because I honestly thought it wou...

Re: Other Stuff

I have also done the trip in a similar time scale in my yoof with management on the rear of an ST1100. On the way south ii rained continuously the whole way there, monumental rain going in to Millau (pre bridge days). So much so that trim started to fall off the screen  We had to peel our clo...

Re: Other Stuff

I am not really sure if the GPX was an upgrade to the GPZ, different bike really. I liked the style of mine but the 16" front wheel was the source of frustration. Only bike I have ever had a real nasty tank slapper on heading down in to Dover on the same trip. Loaded it it was a real dog of thi...

Re: Other Stuff

Glad you respawned the thread Gary, I enjoy your style of story telling so keep it up. I suspect there are many others that quietly sit and chuckle to your tales and can relate to the themes you touch on as "other stuff". Having looked through the pics the Fireblade bought back a lovely li...

Re: Which puncture repair kit

Strangely enough I recently purchased a dyno plug kit. Looks well made and simple to use. http://www.dynaplug.com/products.html Previously had good success with a BMW kit with glue and rubber insert although I did have to find a French lorry with an airline to reinflate the tyre as the canisters did...

Re: Travel Log Tales - Africa

That's modern bikes explained. Don't get me wrong I enjoy mine with all its farkles but.... On past tours all I worried about was serious mechanical break down as you pretty well could bodge most other repairs to get moving again. Now if a sensor fails it stops and you have limited chance of fixing ...

Re: Tom Tom Routes To Garmin

Hello gents, I have done this with a friend I ride with. I have TomTom and he has BMW Garmin - I can only speak for how export a file 1. Create a route in TomTom Mydrive - this is a website that you create a login for prior to use. mydrive.tomtom.com 2. Export the route to a GPX file. Route sharing....

Re: CB125F 2017 tickover issues

Again, a different bike with similar sounding problem (although not the starting bit as that was fine, just could not get it to idle properly). Turned out to be my error. When putting the carb back on I had inadvertently rotated it a full 360 degrees tensioning the inner part of the throttle cable. ...
