Re: In praise of the humble V-Strom 650 XT - UK adventures

Godspeed, you are the undisputed master of long distance travel on small bikes, but.... In the last two days I have ridden a touch under 600 miles on my 650 VStrom, from W-s-M to Lowestoft, an overnight camp and home again via Lowestoft Ness and the very North of Norfolk via Broadlands NP. I have a ...

Well, I can think of worse places to be, but not many that could be better.

Amazing photo's.

Re: In praise of the humble V-Strom 650 XT - UK adventures

When I bought my VStrom in 2020 I was coming from a five year period of not owning a motorbike. My last bike was a Buell S3 which was a hoot and a much better bike than those who dislike Harley's and Buell's could ever know, but I was either going to lose my license or worse my life if I was not car...

Re: In praise of the humble V-Strom 650 XT - UK adventures

I have a 2015 VStrom 650 which I bought s/h just a few weeks before the first lockdown.... oh yeah, great timing. Last year I did my first ever multi day moto camping trip, after over 40 years of motorcycling, it was great. I live in the SW of England and travelled up to the top of Scotland, around ...

Re: chinese are coming

As tonibe says, they just need to sort their image and infrastructure out before you'd put money down on one. Still feels like a gamble. Sinnis T380 already dropped after less than a year. They need to build stability and dealerships before you'd sink more than disposable 125 money on one. It is no...

Re: Camp Site Reviews

I use the "nearly wild camping " org as it lists nice basic sites that have minimal facilities and are small--usually good enough for a night or two, typically cheap and friendly, and best of all NOT a favourite for motorhomes and camper vans--so you get peace and quiet. I just went to ha...

Re: Camp Site Reviews

from my experience many of the more basic/cheaper campsites have little or no online presence which is a shame, booking.com, google etc dominate any kind of search, if you want to save a few quid circumnavigate them where possible. I camped some where up in Scotland back in the summer just came acr...

Glad it's not just me.

I was beginning to think I my sense of humour was somewhat warped..... which it is.

Re: Camp Site Reviews

If you google 'camp sites near xxxxx' it will produce a little map and a number of suggested sites.

As soon as you pick a site a box will open which has all sorts of details, including reviews.

Trip Advisor also has some good info as does pitchup and my current favourite ukcampsite.co.uk.

Camp Site Reviews

Like a few folk here I suspect, I am currently planning some of my trips for next year and despite riding motorbikes since the late 1970's this is all a bit new to me. So, a method I developed earlier in the year when planning a seven day trip to Scotland and back, was to sort out a start point and ...
