Re: Go Big and Ride Small

How does your planned route look like ?

Passing Combe Laval (again) ?

It will be rather long days.
Camping or hotels ?

It think that it will be perfect season.
End of May, The summer starts to arrive.
But still low season for tourist.
Good prices and not crowded

Re: Go Big and Ride Small

I do not care about the spelling. " I ride down to Bardoneccia for a couple of days on the trails" Did not sound like a such a long trip. "A couple of days" So I thought that might be something completely different How long time do you plan for the complete trip ? How many kms/mi...

One bike had a front fork bag/frame on it (I don't think it was a GS) that looked good. A bit like those fork leg bags that cyclists use 8-) .
That is the old school chopper way of doing it.
The tent on the front fork.
And a bag attached to the sissy bar

Re: Satnav vs Mounted Phone

To get a large screen. I made a mount for an old Android tablet that was not used anymore. Loaded it with OSM - maps And OSMAND app. It worked fine for predefined routes/tracks. But than they change the format for the maps... => I needed to upgrade the app, but that was not possible due to too old a...

Re: Plans for North West Spain

Two places that we keep going back to, the bufones are a bit weather and tide dependent but always worth a visit, the mining area is worth a full explore and also look out for the canals feeding into it. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Las+M%C3%A9dulas/@42.4595696,-6.7601056,3a,75y,90t/data=!3m8!...

Re: Plans for North West Spain

All of the Picos area is a really good ride so I don't think you'll go wrong whichever route you take. I'd say check out the town of Llanes to the north and the bigger town of Gijon also to the north, which are both on the coast but surprisingly close to the Picos Mountains, if you want a couple of...

Plans for North West Spain

I write this to keep my self busy, keep the dreams alive and to get feedback/ideas from all your experiences. First some boring background I had planned for a trip in NW Spain last year. But it couldn't be done. Before I went to SA. General about my view of planning: It is more about research and pr...

Old men in Algarve on gravel

What started 3 years ago with some test rides on gravel roads has now grown to a formal activity. With an Algarve Senior Bikers Gravel group. That make an common tour, once per month May's tour attracted 13 senior persons (not only men). We spent a day on easy gravel roads. We enjoyed the riding, th...
