Re: West Wales Weekend ABR Rally 2018

Cracking weekend once again, thanks everyone you were great company. For those that are interested I have set up a Facebook group for the event called "Sheep Dip Tour - ABR Weekend" for photo sharing and keeping in touch, helping Big Al with the organising and maybe even arranging other ri...

Re: West Wales Weekend ABR Rally 2018

The Internal Fire Museum is great, if you're inti big engines! Mainly pumps and generators on show but other things too. Just up the road from our lunch stop.

Re: West Wales Weekend ABR Rally 2018

I don't wish to disappoint people but there isn't a complete Sunderland at the museum and in fact the museum is more one of Pembroke Dock's military career. There is the only known surviving Mk1 Sunderland buried in the mud under the esturary which they are slowly bringing to the surface bit by bit ...

Re: West Wales Weekend ABR Rally 2018

It's easily half hour closer than Strata Florida, maybe closer. I've also been looking on the OS maps and there's a few tracks around the route I'm planning, and around Newcastle Emlyn and Cenarth, including a couple of small fords. Not sure how viable it is for someone to link them all up but am pl...

Re: West Wales Weekend ABR Rally 2018

Who's organising the greenlane ride this year? I have heard tell from some local riders that there are some good greenlane rides around the Brechfa Forest area, apparently the first ever LandRover review was conducted in the area (possibly on private land though). I have no idea where the lanes are ...

Re: West Wales Weekend ABR Rally 2018
If there's more than 15, do you have a GPX of the route?
I had thought of that, and yes if I tweaked my plotted route a little then it would be possible. It's just the usual thing of using a place as a marker and the satnav taking you to the heart if the town rather than easily on ...

Re: West Wales Weekend ABR Rally 2018

Rode my route yesterday, I think you'll enjoy it, and if the weather is as clear as yesterday the scenery will be amazing. (It wass quite cloudy and threatened rain).

Re: West Wales Weekend ABR Rally 2018

My Saturday rideout route is planned.... Not greenlaning but certainly not easy tarmac either although road tyres will be fine, I used to ride these roads on Pilot Roads and BT0023s before that! There will be a lot of single track & country lanes with some greenery in the middle, steep ups and d...

Re: West Wales Weekend ABR Rally 2018

Hi Big Al & Teflon!
Seems we have a little interest from some locals and I'll let you know numbers nearer the date. Great to hear the bar is both nights!! 😀

I'll start compiling a nice route to lunch and back, will it be the same pub as last year? Dunno if you try to keep it a secret or not!
