Re: Magadan panniers

I bought a brand new set of AS Magadan panniers for the X Challenge, built with the same custom frames as Walter himself. My 58-pattern panniers are canvas, with waterproof liners, that have lasted over 40 years. I was very disappointed that the Magadans lasted LESS THAN 2 MILES... attached as per t...

Andy

Andy rides a X Country, for many years and he is a proper bike nut. Ex RAF technician, he is meticulous. When my throttle cable parted he made me a new one up using my casing the same day. Stronger and better made than the original... got me out of a hole. He has recently bought Foleys Motorcycles i...

Re: BMW g650 x country??

Garyboy - I wouldn't touch a moden bike with a bargepole! They are too complicated with innecessary electronics, too expensive, won't last like an older bike - yes they, might, have better suspension, they are snaffled for emissions, full of gadgets and widgets that nobody needs - 'wants' or 'likes'...

Re: BMW g650 x country??

An old thread brought back to life hey! Geecee, the G650GS is nothing like the X Country, the only similarity is the fact it is a 650 single. The X Country, X Challenge and X Moto (all same engine and chassis, just different styling and wheels) sport the 53hp Rotax built engine, built in the Aprilia...

Re: ccm gp 450 happy day

Thank you for that very worthwhile ownership report. I am about inbetween your suggestion of the V-strom adventure thing and Tenere 660c at the moment with my very nice little 650 Xcountry. It isn't as off road orientated as the CCM, nor is it as well constructed, but it rides very nicely and is muc...

Re: New ADV bike from SWM

The CCM might be lower powered than the SWM600 - but what is the power to weight ratio between the two? I bet the weight difference will more or less cancel out the extra horsepower - and the lighter bike surely will be easier to manhandle? If only CCM had used the Rotax 652cc motor for their Advent...

Re: 40mm Grenade Boxes Free

You got one left gaz, please? I need a toolbox - mine collapsed this afternoon taking it back inside....all over the kitchen. I was not flavour of the month as the Chancellor was making mince pies at the time! :( Also, any chance of me coming up for a bit of a refresh - I had forgotten everything on...

Re: ccm gp 450 happy day

I am humming and haaaring over the GP450. I love the build quality and sensible 'rally' additions to the Adventure - the soft luggage is a real bonus. BUT, I am unsure about the 450 Kymco motor (it isn't a BMW despite what it says on the cover). The chassis and running gear I have no qualms about wh...
