Re: What's your advice regarding tank bags on long trips

I've gone back and forth with TB. I'm currently not using one. My favorite was by Mosko Moto. Not to big, layered for great organization. I just don't think I need one, so I put it on the shelf and sold it about a year later.

Re: 3k to spend. What would you buy?

I'd probably buy riding gear. My helmet is about 5 yrs old as is my jacket.

Re: Lithium more reliable than Lead?

I've been riding for 30+ yrs, so I have experience with batteries and an opinion on the subject. I've found that consistent frequent riding greatly extends the life of old lead batteries. Mine generally lasted 3 to 5 yrs, with regular use (I ride about 10k per yr). My brother with the same battery r...

Re: Solo rider emergency help spot 3 alternative?

I use the Garmin InReach Mini. It sends my location to the wife automatically. Has an SOS button for emergencies. Works anywhere, no service needed. Has 3 preset messages, select and send. (I'm fine, pick me up here, running late, or what ever you want). Pair it to your phone and send longer message...

Re: MCN - Tenere 700 v KTM 790 Adventure R

I looked at the 690 a lot. Decided on the 790 because, (well I rode the Wyoming and Idaho sections of the CDT this week and the took the hwy back home yesterday). Didn't think the 690 would be fun on the hwy. The 790 can eat up both the dirt and the hwy. Sent from my SM-T720 using Tapatalk https://u...

17,000 miles in 53 weeks. Never failed to start. Heading north tomorrow. Wyoming border CDTR to Canada and DT, BH, back. Guess I'll be at about 19k in two weeks.

Re: Brass Exhaust nuts, yes or no???

Brass nuts sounds good, I'd stay with stainless studs. Brass is soft so it won't strip out the stud it also is corrosion resistant. Don't know how it interacts with stainless.Brass was used a lot in the Navy because it tends to not seize up. It will turn green.

Re: MCN - Tenere 700 v KTM 790 Adventure R

The specs on the t700 strike me as being out of date. It's very much like the discontinued BMW 650 Sertao. Same tech, Sertao is lighter and will go about 100 miles farther and can be found for 1/2 the cost. I had the BMW and put 60k on it. Glad I didn't wait for the T700. Sent from my SM-T720 using ...
