TOPIC: Imber and the Plain

Imber and the Plain 6 months, 4 weeks ago #556101

Twas a tad parky when I set off at 07.30, beautiful morning once the sun came up though. Here I am just south of Bath on my way to meet the others at Warminster...

There were only three of us in the end, Barftone on his faithful Africa Twin, Richie on his GS1200 and me on the Donkey.

After a warm up and a sausage sandwich at Warminster services we set off across the Plain towards the old village of Imber which is only open a couple times a year. There was hardly anyone there at 10.00 so the church was shut but when we passed through later the place was heaving.

Tony and Richie chewing the fat.........

This was a s close as I could get to the church.........

We carried on across the Plain, you needed to keep your eyes peeled as some of the surfaces were covered in frost and plenty of icy puddles to crunch through......

If you're going to cross this bridge you'll need a couple of minutes first to read all the warning signs........

The obligatory photos of Stonehenge from the byway that runs alongside............

After a coffee in Tidworth Richie headed back by road and Tony and me retraced our path back across the Plain via some muddy bits.

Did I mention it was bloody cold yesterday

The KTM is on road tyres and will remain that way for now. I managed to remain upright all day so Andy will have to make his own skidmark
