Motorcycle helmet manufacturer SHARK has released a new multi-functional helmet that looks perfect for adventure motorcycling.

The new Explore-R helmet, which is set to cost around £320, is a brand new concept for SHARK and it offers both full-face and off-road helmet functionalities. Depending on the terrain and style of your riding, a removable visor, peak and goggles can all be altered to best suit the situation meaning there should be no need to buy more than one lid for different uses.

The helmet also features SHARK's new 'carbon skin' technology, a carbon and aramid structure that provides a 'second skin' with extra protection and shock absorption. The carbon is visible on the helmet giving it a cool and unique finish.

As well as the added protection from the carbon skin technology, the Explore-R comes with a lining made from natural bamboo fibres (known for their hypo-allergenic, antibacterial and moisture absorbing properties).

The helmet has all the makings of a brilliant bit of kit, it looks awesome, the carbon skin technology improves the protection it offers (and that's what a helmet's all about, right?) and the inner lining should make wearing it a joy. We haven't tried it out yet, but we'll be getting one in in the next few weeks so keep an eye out for the official ABR verdict.

This looks the biz and what is its cost? Looks like a ride to the nearest SHARK outlet next year...competition to the Arai X4 too?

The helmet is set to cost £319.99 and it should be in stores from January 2014, I'll amend the piece to include these details.
