  • Touring western states of USA in 2003. 10,000 miles in 9 weeks, 12 states plus Canada.

  • One 500 mile day across Germany, gale-force rain all day then struggled to find a hotel in the dark.
  • Previous Adventures
  • To slovenia, croatia, montenegro, albania. Across the Andes in Peru to Machu pichu. New Zealand. 10,000km riding everywhere in South Island for 2 months. Wettest and coldest summer on record. Ugh! Morocco, the Atlas mountains and into the Sahara. USA trip (see above) Riding into the Australian bush from Brisbane on a racing quad. Only time I ever rode one. 3 times to the Stella-Alpina. Only reached the summit once when there was no snow. Loads of fantastic trips to Spain plus trail-riding in the Picos years ago before it was all closed to bikes. France to Portugal across Spain keeping above 3000 ft almost the entire way. Northern Spain to Slovenia keeping to high altitude where possible which was most of the way.

  • Ride the perimeter of Iceland as soon as the ferries start to run again. (Hoping) Ride the entire south coast of Australia, along the coast from Adelaide to Perth.

Hi Ted
A mate of mine (Joe Bar) suggested I message you about front tyres for the Versys. Basically I'm doing some mods ready for offroading through Portugal and down to Morocco next year.
My background is offroading for 7 years on enduro bikes and UK Rallies on CCM644 and BMW F650GS. I've also got a 1200GS which I use for 2 up touring and did Morocco (on tarmac) a couple of years ago. Ideally I don't want to change the front wheel as I prefer to keep things as stock as possible but I do need tyres which can do some offroading including wet stuff. So any suggestions??
