Welcome Muloo1!!
I know what you mean but think I might be able to handle it :))
The Hairy Bikers show last night reminded me of all those wonderful features....the food, the wine, the weather and the roads.
I keep a DRZ400 in France and always look forward to getting back and taking it out across the hills - bliss!!
Much has been published on the subject but let's try and find out what ABR forum members consider the best roads/routes for biking in France????

The best thing about France for me is not living in it. That way when we ever go there on bike, by plane or in the Camper it's absolutley brilliant culture, way of life, 5euro for 5l of wine, the baguettes, the cheeses, the people, the roads, the wee towns, the everything, love it. I always thought If i lived there it would become familiar, that's why holidays and trips some new are so enjoyable in general.

hi modelman,

Been offline but am now down in Languedoc perusing websites looking for a winter let in the Herault. Excellent motorbiking roads and SO quiet. Looking forward to next spring...

If you have any tips for finding a winter let from Nov - March..let me know!

How is your house hunting going?
I bought a house near Carcassonne a little over a year ago. Let me know if I can be of any help.

We'll certainly keep out of that region. Prices seem to go up as soon as you cross into Provence. I'm planning a book - I know, it's been done before - working title is 'A year near Provence'. It might just work.

French is basic but we're keen. I see a long winter of study ahead. Got any tips?

South sounds good though if you're sick of crowded roads I don't suppose you'll be looking at anywhere between the Italian border and the Camargue.

We looked at a number of areas of France before we bought the flat, trying to work out what the likely income from rentals or anything else could be. I had a number of business ideas but whatever money they generated it was unlikely to beat my wife's UK income, plus our kids were still at school (one still is so we're stuck here for the time being).

How's your french? If you're buying, everyone speaks english but if you're selling or need some sort of help ...

South. The weather is calling us....Just too many cold rides on crowded roads. Alps is a definitely on next summer's agenda.

Plan is to rent an off season gite and look at buying something in the new year. Got a few business ideas but I'm hoping to take advantage of the technology and work on as a freelance graphic artist/author...check out http://www.teawithbinladensbrother.com !

Thanks for tax tips - I'll go carefully.
