Maps from garmin to Basecamp.
Maps from garmin to Basecamp.
Anyone know if it is possible to transfer the map from a garmin montana onto a PC so it shows in Basecamp without having to connect the GPS unit every time?

What sort of map, is it on an SD card?
I cloned an SD card map of Morocco using this idea onto a SD card that lived in the computers flash drive slot:

if the garmin map is unlocked just copy and paste to a new card..make sure the garmin file is inserted into a garmin folder otherwise it cant be read by basecamp..img etc...
or just download a opensource topo map to the basecamp maps folder on pc

The opensource maps are good value, but, in the past the mapping hasn't been as accurate as the paid for stuff, eg, a road junction shaped like a "T" has a gap between the two roads, so the laptop / GPS sees it as a no through road if your going up to the "T" junction and so routes you around a scenic route to go past the junction.
