I thought long and hard about this purchase, before I took the plunge and bought an Oregon Scientific ATC9K full HD action camera
The spec's are good with full HD recording at 1080p, fully waterproof, able to operate easily with gloves, good battery life, able to switch between video and stills, can be recharged on the bike, 1.5 inch LCD rear view screen, various bike and helmet mounts etc.
It seemed to tick all the boxes for what I wanted and video recordings I seen on YouTube were good so I took the plunge and bought one through an on line retailer a few months back.
I registered the purchase with Oregon online and got software updates etc.... All good so far.
A few months later I noticed the front lens was cracked and contacted the customer support via email and got an automated reply. No other contact with them for weeks despite making several phone calls to customer service on an 0845 number at 10p per min, leaving several voice mails with contact details etc...still no response.
Numerous weeks later I did get a response basically telling me ..if the lens cracked through human error........tough!!
There are no replaceable parts on this HD cam. Oregon has no UK repair/service centres. Their customer service is non existant.
Looks like I'm stuck with a defective camera
Save youself all this hassle and avoid any Oregon device and buy a GoPro or similar instead
